Community work

Children and young people have higher social and emotional well-being; children and young people have more supportive networks and relationships

Children and young people need a protected environment and a vibrant community to grow up. This strengthens their sense of belonging and encourages them to actively involve themselves in the community and participate in the social life around them.

In our community-based interventions, we combine the work of mobile, multidisciplinary teams that visit and support families in their homes with activities in our social or multifunctional centers.

We work mainly with marginalized populations, predominantly in rural areas and Roma communities.

Almost 12,900 people (children, youth, families, elderly) benefit from our support services every year in Austria, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Moldova and Romania.

Mirela Lavric National Director Kosovo
“Combining the multidisciplinary approach of the outreach work in the most vulnerable communities with the social, educational, psychological and recreational activities provided in the community centres, we support children, young people and families on their path to an independent, self-determined life.”

Family-centred community work

Children and young people have a right to grow up in their family of origin. CONCORDIA intervenes where parents are unable to support and raise their children in the best possible way. We take preventive measures in the event of structural problems within a family, so that the children are not separated from their parents in the first place. We mediate in conflict situations, support the parents through educational counselling and job coaching and with support services.
